The Primary Knowledge Curriculum:
St johns will be following the P.K.C Art scheme of work, the scheme entitles students to develop their skills and make connections throughout different topics studied alongside their art lessons. For example, if the Saxons and Vikings is being taught in History the connection will be made with the Bayeux Tapestry within Art.
Below is a full outline of each year group explain what will be taught within Art, skills progression and development and the links across the national curriculum.
RATIONALE
Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. A high-quality art and design education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As pupils progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. They should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
Our aim is to provide each pupil at St John’s Primary School with the opportunity to develop their artistic skills, visual perception, confidence and enjoyment of art;
